Antwerpen in June

I travelled to Belgium in June with my friend.  I've visited Brussel in the past but it was my first time to visit Antwerpen.  I was always dared to visit this small town since I've read an article about the city in Figaro magazine in Japan when I was young.

Antwerpen is a city of mode because there is a famous fashion school and there are many famous modern designers was born from this city.  I've found that the city is unique with a mix of modernity and tradition in serene.

We've only stayed one night here but the experience in this city was wonderful with a great hotel and gastronomic discovery.

「アントワープ」６月の旅行記。アントワープは高校生くらいの時に読んだ”フィガロ・ジャポン”の町紹介記事が印象的で、昔から一度訪れたかった町だった。滞在したホテルが素晴らしく、親切で街の歩き方や、いいレストランを紹介してくださったこともあり、今回のヨーロッパの旅で一番のお気に入りになった町だ。

ベルギーはフランスとオランダの文化の交わる地域で、その建物なども混沌としたスタイルが特長だ。ベルギー北部に位置するアントワープは王立美術学校があることで、近年ファッションの発祥地として知られている。しかしどこか田舎で、朴訥（ぼくとつ）としている感じと、モダンを追求しているエネルギーが交わっていて面白い。

アントワープの一番の見所は駅だ。１９００年頃に建設された駅はそれは見事で、現在でも内部はとてもモダンに美しく清潔に整備されていた。
